The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decided to limit the purchase and operation of gasoline and diesel buses on city routes. The purpose of the approved draft law is to promote the development of environmentally friendly public transport.
According to the forecasts of Ukravtoprom, by 2030 the share of electric and gas buses will be 25% of all public transport in large cities of Ukraine. By 2033 – 50%. The full transition should be completed by 2036.
At the same time, a charging infrastructure for new public transport should be created. The law simplifies the land requirements for placing electric charging stations. And those who connect to Ukrenergo networks will receive benefits and are allowed to not pay for power until the end of 2024.
