In the European Union, the implementation of ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) was once again postponed. The system will provide for the paid issuance of electronic visas for citizens of countries with a visa-free regime with the EU.
The purpose of ETIAS is to increase the effectiveness of the fight against illegal immigrants and crime.
Preliminary registration in the system will take place online. The minimum fee will be 7 euros.
It was planned that ETIAS would become operational in 2024. But now the start of the project has been postponed to May 2025.
